In this ever expanding universe, so is my belt. I need to drop more than a few pounds.
Now I can use an Excel Dashboard Template and Chart file to track my weight and plot it against my target weight range and my BMI target weight range (Body Mass Index). And you can too. Below is the Free Template Download for this Excel Dashboard for Weight Loss.
The Dashboard was setup using Excel 2007 and you can track your weight by date and a graph of your progress will automatically be created as you enter new data. That makes this a Dynamic Dashboard.
Also, you can enter in your target Weight Range and a band for this target will be plotted on the chart along with your weight. Finally, you can put in your height and it calculates your target BMI Weight Range and plots that on the Dashboard Chart as well. Presently this chart displays weight in Pounds but it could be modified for the Metric Weight System as well.
What is BMI?
As per Wikipedia – “The body mass index (BMI), or Quetelet index, is a heuristic proxy for human body fat based on an individual’s weight and height. BMI does not actually measure the percentage of body fat. It was invented between 1830 and 1850 by the Belgian polymath Adolphe Quetelet during the course of developing “social physics”.[1] Body mass index is defined as the individual’s body weight divided by the square of his or her height.”
Won’t you join me in getting more fit and healthy as well as seeing you accomplishing your goals with a really cool Personal Excel Dashboard?
Please let me know what you think about this download in the comments and let me know if you want me to build a similar template for Excel 2003. Also let me know if I can make any improvements for this Dynamic Dashboard Template.

Still no 2003 version I guess? :/
I need to change a few formulas and conditional formatting for 2003 version. I will get one posted this week. Thanks for letting me know that you would like a 2003 version.
I have posted the 2003 version. Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks and good luck to everyone in your weight loss!!
What would be awesome is if you had a template that tracks the Body Fat, Muscle and Body Water percentages. Thank you!!
Great idea. I will get it done and posted this month. Thanks for the idea!!

Awesome!! Thank you!
hi Steve,
I like this idea too!
were you able to get it done?
Jan
Hi Jan, no not yet 🙁 life gets in the way, then new priorities. But I did look into it, I just didn’t understand it. Do you have a website that explains it in more details?
Hi Steve,
Thank you for the great BMI template. Just what I was looking for. I have made one that calculates the numbers, but this visual template is so much cooler. I’m not interested in the numbers, just to see how I’m doin’. This is perfect.
Cheers,
Ivan
Thanks Ivan, what a great comment. So happy to help. Steve=True
Hi, great chart, thanks!
I’m in Australia, and we use metric… is there any chance of converting the calculations?
thanks, Jan 🙂
Hi Jan, quick question, is it as simple as converting the table to metric or would I have to change anything else? BMI is not my specialty so wanted to understand before I create and post it.
